I went to school at ITT Technical Institute in Murray, Utah. I spent my time there mostly studying design concepts, animation, and 3D modeling. During the last year of school, I worked for a company originally named Design Ten working with 3D Studio Max developing a process to automate their artificial nail production process. I worked closely with a Java programmer to develop this automation process, and while we were never able to finish the process, I did learn a lot about scripting and teamwork during my employment.
Following that job, I decided to get more into web development. I got on board at Heritage Web Solutions in Provo, Utah. Initially hired as an HTML developer, My primary job there was to take website designs and build site shells in Adobe Dreamweaver. After about 5 months working in that department, I was promoted to the position of Flash Developer, where I made animated website headers, used Actionscript to build photo galleries and slideshows, and occasionally built full flash websites. Heritage has a huge client base, so speed and quality were key in these roles.
After a year of being employed with Heritage, I decided that I needed to find employment closer to my home. So I found work at another website solutions company named Origin3. I was hired on as a Website Designer, which focused purely on the front end development, including site design, shell builds, any necessary Flash work. During my employment, I honed my development and design skills and studied current web standards, SEO and Flash Video & Communication with XML.
In February 2008, I landed a job working for Healthways. We partnered with the Esolutions branch of Fiserv to provide websites for local and national financial institutions. We focused on full CSS, table-less website development. A proprietary Content Management system, built in .net was used, so I picked up a little asp there as well, although I still mostly focused on front end design and development. I mostly made updates and upgrades to existing websites, but occasionally I did redesigns and both templated and custom sites. Here is where I perfected my CSS knowledge, and worked on designing for usability and contemporary design standards.
